Yesterday, the United States House of Representatives voted 219-212 for the Waxman-Markey Climate Bill (The “Cap and Trade” bill). Eight Republicans joined the Democrats, voting in favor of the bill, while 44 Democrats joined the Republicans, voting against the bill.
The Can-Do Conservatives of America are strongly against this bill. The cost of utilities for an average American household will go up anywhere from $175 to $770 depending on the estimate. In addition, these estimates do not include the higher prices for other items that come when gas and energy are more expensive.
“The Cap and Trade bill hurts middle class families and disabled Americans more than any other group,” says Founder and President of Can Do Conservatives Brian Donegan. “In an economy where people are already struggling to pay the bills, pushing one of the largest tax increases in American history is reckless and foolish. If this bill becomes law, we can expect to see prices rise for our every day items.”
Luckily for all American citizens, this bill is not yet law. Join The Can-Do Conservatives of America in continuing to fight against the Waxman-Markey Climate Bill. After the July 4th recess, a similar bill will be up for vote in the United States Senate. We must call our Congressmen and tell them to vote NO! Yesterday people like you shut down the Capital Switchboards, standing up for their country. We must mount an even larger effort for the Senate vote to save our country’s economy and our liberty!
